Making the Cut: Episode 7
By: Mateui

Powers are Changing

Welcome to the seventh episode of Making the Cut (MTC, in short.)

(To make this whole document easier to understand, I will post the actual words that were spoken during the game, to help shape the episodes and occurrences.)

(The Players Still In The Game:)

Fire Mage

(The Current Jury:)

And so, 16 have signed up for a journey of epic proportions, including serious backstabbing, secret alliances, revengeful actions, and voting one another out of the game, in essence, 'cutting' the other members out, who will wait until the last round, to vote for one of two people, who will become the ultimate survivor of Making the Cut.

6 are already cut, and they have become the first few members of the jury. In this episode, another will be cut, and will become the seventh member to join the jury that will select the winner in the future.

(Round #7 Info)

Mateui: Please vote as usual, voting for the person you want cut from the game.

*A lot of the participants are relieved.. Voting normally is all fine for them – that way, there are (usually) no surprises.. but who’s to say that?*

Mateui: Deluge, you’re up first to cast your vote.

*Deluge rose from his seat and proceeded to the voting platform. He wrote his vote*

Fire Mage

Deluge: I'm surprised he hasn't been voted for before... That's why he's getting mine. =)

*Deluge put his vote in the container, and went back to his seat.*

Mateui: Erave, you’re second to cast your vote.

*Erave stood up a quickly looked at about 6 people. He nodded to them. After that, he walked to the voting platform, and cast his vote.*

Erave: I hate to this.. I really do.. but Safari is the game's wildcard, and he voted for me last round, I guess he puts the game over friendship (but don't we all =P) and it'd be nice to see another potential threat gone.

*Erave had sentenced Safari.. well, that is, if he had instructed his alliance to vote the same. As he walked back to his seat, he looked at some members still sitting, and made eye contact with them.. we was signaling them to follow suit.*

Mateui: Geno, please stand up and cast your vote as well now.

*Geno looked at Erave and they both nodded. Geno then walked to the platform, and wrote down a name.*

Geno_SMRPG: Because Erave Told me to.

*His simple words showed total allegiance to Erave. Keeping close to him would ensure safety in the short term – as long as nobody decided to shift the power another way.*

Mateui: MDN, please cast your vote.

*MDN rose and walked to the platform. He took a pen and wrote down a name on the ballot.*

MDN: I feel that he has backstabbed me in the past mainly in round 3 and 5, I have been delaying getting back at him but now the time has come for revenge. Oh yeah and he called me a noob too.

Safari is the easiest to get votes on so it's time to get him out of here. We ignored him earlier since he seemed to have no teams at all. But now is the time to get him. As for who to get in round 8 if we get Safari this round I'm not sure yet.

*After he had explained his choice to the camera, MDN went back to the seating area, and sat down.*

Mateui: It is now Safari’s turn to vote.

*Safari got up from his seat and looked around him. ‘Rats’, he thought, ‘they’re all rats being controlled by their beloved master Erave..’ He has to be removed as quickly as possible – but can it be done?.. Only if some of his alliance decides to turn on Erave. But it won’t be easy turning some people around. He had already gotten to the voting platform – now, all he had to do was write a name.*

Safari: He really needs to go. He has everyone wrapped around his pinky finger, and he's becoming way too much of a threat.

*Safari put his vote in the container and walked back down to his seat. He made eye contact with Gamewolf, all the while not trying to get Erave’s attention. Would Gamewolf work in Safari’s favour, or would he eliminate him from the game?*

*Safari tried to think of something that would save him.. He was losing time quickly – Koromai, Fire Mage, Cawin, and Turkpimp had already went up to the voting platform and voted. Now, only Gamewolf was left.*

Mateui: Gamewolf, please stand up and cast the final vote.

*Gamewolf stood up, and before walking to the voting platform, he looked at the rest of the participants. On one side, his fellow alliance, and on the other, a few members without power in numbers. What would he choose?*

*The time had come. Gamewolf was now at the voting platform, and needed to write down a name. He closed his eyes and waited a few moments. Finally, he had made his choice, and held up his vote.*

(The vote is hidden from the camera’s view.)

Gamewolf Haha... Just working on the most threatening people.

*He put his vote in the container and walked back to the seating area. Around him, people stared at him.. did he make the right choice?*

Mateui: Everyone has voted. I’ll go tally the votes.

Mateui: Alright, once the votes are read the decision is final – the person cut will be asked to leave the area immediately.

1st Vote:

2nd Vote:

3rd Vote:

4th Vote:

5th Vote:
Fire Mage

6th Vote:

7th Vote:
Fire Mage

8th Vote:

9th Vote:

10th Vote:

Mateui: Safari, you have received 6 votes.

In a regular round, you would have been cut - but this is no ordinary round. I hinted at this in the title of the round: "Powers are Changing."

*Some of the participants look around. They are shocked! Yes, right above them, there is a banner hanging, with the words “Round 7: Powers are Changing.” They can’t believe that they missed this vital clue.. But what would happen now? What’s the twist?”

Mateui: Indeed, for this round, the power will shift, as the person who receives the most votes will gain "Power of Attourney" status. (The "PA" for short.) The "Power of Attourney" is immune to the votes this round, and he (Safari) now has to power to eliminate someone from the game, with only one vote.

This new element in the game, may appear sometime in the future, but most likely in a different manner. It was just planned ahead, that the Round #7 victim would be the first to attain PA status, and get revenge on one of the other players.

Alliances are not very safe, as you can tell. And placing yourself within one may cause someone like a "PA" to remove you from the game. But who's to say that? Safari has the ultimate power for the time being - and let's see who he'll eliminate.

Safari, please vote for who you want to remove from the game. There are 9 players to choose from - make your pick wisely, as you may only get this chance once in the game.

Everyone else, feel free to discuss this epic change, and how it may effect you. Also, some confessionals have been set up to the right of the voting platform, feel free to use these to state your feelings and thoughts, or even to vent out your anger. If you want, you may even try to plea to Safari, in hopes that he may not eliminate you.

We'll see what happens...

*Mateui sits back in his chair, and begins to watch the participants.*

*Safari can’t believe what has happened. He was about to be cut from the game, but amazingly, round #7 was his lucky round. This power is great, he thought to himself.. I get to flaunt it in front of everyone else, and make them terrified – they deserve it.*

*Erave, on the other hand, is furious. He is sure that Safari will use his PA status to eliminate him. Angered, Erave walks to the confessional and tells the camera his thoughts.*

Erave: I had a LONG and heart-filled response to your new rule typed and ready to send... but I can't be a sour sport can I? (Though I want to so bad..)

I might as well reveal my final words before I get voted out right? And if I'm not, I can just express my feelings for your article.

Let's see here. I had the whole game going my way basically. If our alliance needed two votes to vote off so and so, I could get it. Whether it be setting a temp alliance with FireMage or TurkPimp. Or warning people of their doom, like Safari and Cawin. I will admit it, I had a lot of influence. My alliance members hardly questioned my orders (MDN debated a lot with them), especially GENO_SMPRG, he never had any problems with it =P. I was planning to win. I always managed to pull JUST enough votes to survive. And nearing the 10th round, our alliance would have the majority for the next 4 or so rounds. Once we would get down to 5 left (the alliance) I would have already set up a temp alliance with MDN and GameWolf. MDN was my most trusted comrade, we were always scheming and taunting others. We knew the outcome of every round. (except the ones with shit rules like this one) We planned to use GameWolf to get us down to 3, then go to the final two together.

I must say... I did try to play with a bit of honor. BUT, when I was threatened, I went to any length to protect myself. I only had to lie once so far, which I am proud of. I betrayed DP after he asked me to join, because of Faust getting out so early. BUT, my conscience got me ya know, and I confessed before he voted (which is why I even got votes that round.)

I guess the rest of this confession would be more legit if I knew if I were still around, though I am almost 100% sure I am gone this round, even though MY PLAN WORKED TO GET SAFARI OUT <_< .

That is all.

*Erave sighed, and left the confessional. Meanwhile, the cut participants were watching the action (or confusion, you might say) from a designated area near the seating area. They were the jury, so they needed to watch the whole game quite carefully.*

*DarkPriest commented.*

Erave: It's ok... but I've never taken ANYTHING this seriously before...

I put my heart into this game, more than I can say about Basketball, Band, and even my social life.

This game just really interested me, and it'd be sad to go now =(.

*MDN commented on this change in game play.*

MDN: And I thought that Round 3 was awful. At least we were able to think ahead in that round before we moved, for this there's no way we could think ahead unless we cheated.

I agree with Erave, this game is addicting it would be sad to go now.

*Fire Mage also added his two cents.*

Fire Mage: Yes, Erave is right. This game has become a short part of our lives, and seing another player be cut is really sad. =(

*Bujiro, sitting in the jury area, commented as well.*

Bujiro: I wish I would have made it thus far, this is getting really interesting, more so then before.

*Gamewolf makes a comment, joining in with a group discussion.*

Gamewolf: ;_;
Safari, I LOVE YOU
XD Well, I knew I should be suspicious when I saw the title.

*A few more minutes passed, with participants discussing the new rule, and trying to guess for who Safari would vote for.*

Mateui: Alright, the discussion period is over. Please sit back down in your seats everyone. Safari will now vote.

*Everyone sat down.. but something was wrong.*

Mateui: Where’s Safari?

*Everyone looked around.. Safari was gone.*

Mateui: According to Rules, Safari only has 24 hours to show up here and vote for someone. If he does not exercise his vote as the PA, he himself will be eliminated. It’s all up to him now.

*Erave was a little relieved – he now had a small chance to be safe, he thought to himself.*

Mateui: Safari has until 7:05 to vote. We are now a few minutes away from 7:05.. We will see if Safari makes it in time.

*A few minutes pass.. 7:01.. 7:03.. and finally 7:05. A buzzer rings.*

Mateui: Time is now up. I will go to the container, and see if Safari has placed his vote inside. If he has, then that person will be eliminated. If he hasn’t, then Safari himself will be cut.

*Mateui walks to the voting platform.*

*Meanwhile, back at the seating area, Safari runs to his seat.*

Safari: Am I late?

*Nobody says anything. Safari looks a little worried as he sits down. Finally, Mateui walks back to the seating area, with the container in hand.*

Mateui: I will now open the container.

*Everyone watches in anticipation... Mateui reaches his hand inside... A vote is pulled out. Safari has voted, but is he too late?*

Mateui: A timer was placed near the voting container to record the time a vote was placed. If it was put inside the container before 7:05 then it is valid – if not, then I must cut Safari from the game.

I have the time right here with me. Would you like to know what it says?

*The participants nod.*

Mateui: Alright. It says: 7:01. This means that the vote is valid.

I'm sorry Erave. You knew this was coming, and I can imagine how stressful it must be to only be eliminated with only 4 minutes until the vote would not have been counted.

Safari, you have made it onto the next round. Everyone else please discuss how you feel about the 4 minute thing, Erave's departure, and speculations on future rounds.

To make everyone feel better, including the ones already cut from the game, remember, in a game such as this, there is bound opportunity to receive another chance. (What that means for you, I cannot say yet.. but let it be a reassurance.)

Erave, do you have any final words?

*Erave nods.*

Erave: Oh it doesn't matter, it's not like I had a strategy or anything!

Ok here are my final words...

I wish luck to you MDN, you are my faithful comrad, and I hope that you can still make it to the end like we planned. I can't believe I got out this round, THE ROUND that if we would have won, we would have owned the game. Sad isn't it? All our plans going down to this... BUT Mateui wants, to make this rule.. let him.. it just won't reflect the TRUE winner you know. I feel jipped I really do, I know how Bujiro feels but this was worse. If ONLY Safari would have gone like the votes shown we would have had the majority, guess not though... To everyone else that has helped me... I never had any intention of manipulating you, I just wanted to win.

To the rest of you guys. Vote out TURKPIMP. He's freelancing, and he'll vote whoever asks him to. He's my friend, but he said he's going to win ya know? Don't let him, his strategy is good, you might want to keep him around, but he WILL become a threat.

Well that's it... have fun guys... I'm just going to go into a corner now and cry. Oh and DIE SAFARI RARGHH!!!!!

That is all.

*Mateui walks up to the area a few meters in front of the seating area. A long bamboo branch is hanged between two tree branches, and 10 name cards are suspended by single strings. Long below, is a blazing fire. Mateui walks up to the place where the name “Erave” is written on the card. Mateui reaches into his pocket, and takes out a pair of scissors.*

*Erave knew that this was going to happen – in fact, this all seems soo surreal to him now.*

*Mateui then takes the scissors, and cuts the string that holds his card. The card begins to fall, slowly fluttering in the wind, until it enters the fire underneath all the names, and is burned to a crisp. Only ashes remain.*

*Erave takes his leave from the game.*

*The participants look around themselves. What will happen next? Without a leader, the alliance is bound to fail. Without a person in Erave’s position – someone holding people together to vote a common way, the game is bound to change in a large way. Some are worried, others are calm, while Safari, yes, only Safari, laughs at what has just happened.*

(This section will inform you about various things – things such as who voted for who (and for what reasons), who allied with who, the strategy that was used by some participants, and generally, what was happening in the heart of the game. The members speak out.)

Safari: (When casting his vote against Erave.)
Sorry about this Erave, but you've been leading everyone, and you are by far the biggest threat. And without further ado, YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK... GOODBYE!

Erave: (Apologizing, and giving some advice on how the game should be changed a few ways.)

Sorry for over reacting... but as you can tell I was upset... I didn't mean to rant about it, I just never felt so jipped in my life :x.

Well as long as we are on the topic can I lay a few suggestions for twists that aren't based on luck strategy?

I say, just reveal everyone's strategy with no names censored out... hey it doesn't kick anyone out, but it makes you adjust to the new scenario. If you plan on having people coming back, even I was picked myself... that just doesn't seem fair ya know?

I just say start ratting out everyone's strategy.. I mean the point of the game was to see how far people would go to win right? B)

Again, sorry for over reacting.. have fun hosting the rest of the game... and Safari will get payback :naughty:

DarkPriest: During this round, I was stabbing my Erave voodoo doll in hoping that something miraculous would happen. Apparently it was of some use...

Erave: This round was it. We had to win it. If MDN and I's plan went as planned, we would own the game. An alliance of 5, and 10 people left, with 9, we owned the majority, then MDN and I had our own plans to betray our alliance. anyways, I kinda drug FireMage into this, he was going to be our swing vote. He didn't like Safari much, and he was our target. It all worked out.. Safari got the majority of the votes... but yea, you know the rest.

MDN: I had started to not trust Safari which was part of the reason for why our alliance went after him this round.

Safari: OMFG. 4 minutes?! Damn, I didn't realise I cut it THAT close...

Anyways, I'm sorry to you Erave, but I'm merely playing strategy, and with you gone, and no one to lead everyone else around on a leash, we should have some long awaited chaos. I believe this should make things interesting...
